Cant Uninstall McAffee Viruscsan Enterprise 4.1

Hi folks im having trouble updating McAffee Viruscsan Enterprise 4.1 on a PC on our network. i have a feeling the users deleted it somehoe rather than uninstalling it, and the new version i want to put on wont install over it due to the fact its not beenr removed, is there a way i can edit the registry or something similar to remove it?

You could try searching the registry for all keys related to the program and deleting them manually.

Is there a particular file referenced, or is it just a case of "this is already installed" type message?

Silly question, but I presume you have already checked its not in add/remove programs?

Might want to make the offending user a non-admin

Last time I dealt with that issue was 2-3 years ago with personal versions of both norton and mcafee av's. The uninstall programs would not do complete removals. The websites had additional info to get a complete uninstall.

Try going to McAfee's website and looking for something like manual removal or manual uninstall instructions. I know symantec has a page with a long list of different versions and removal instruction for them. I just recently got a feedback from someone that that helped them - hopefully McAfee will have a similar help for you.
