Running solaris 8. I dont remember which file to modify to allow root to use telnet. Thanks!

It's [tt]/etc/default/login[/tt]. Read the comments for what to change.

Hope this helps!

"to use telnet" ? Are you meaning you want to telnet to your Solaris 8 server ? If so.. PLEASE reconsider. Telnet is plain text and is inherently insecure.

SSH is your friend! Please be considerate to the rest of the world and don't let your server get hacked.

It is highly recomended to NOT telnet as root remotely.
However if for any reason you want to do that, and you are aware of risks, just comment line CONSOLE=/dev/console in /etc/default/login
I'll advice you to use ssh
