I have determined that I am exceeding my 50 license limit on my pix 501. We have about 30 to 40 users at any given time.
When I do a "show local-host" it shows a printer like this:
local host: <10.0.0.54>,
TCP connection count/limit = 0/unlimited
TCP embryonic count = 0
TCP intercept watermark = unlimited
UDP connection count/limit = 0/unlimited
AAA:
Xlate(s):
Conn(s):
Yesterday I removed the default gateway from all my printers and this morning when I got to work they had all showed up again in the "show local-host" list and we exceeded our license count. DNS setup on the printers are set to our internal DNS server.
What I find strange and can't seem to figure out is this. During the day these printers do not show up in the "show local-host" list. We never exceed the limit after I reload the pix in the AM. Sometime between the time that we leave at night around 6:00 and the next morning at 8:00 those printers all show up in the list. It is over 20 network printers that are doing this.
I thought for sure that by removing the default gateway that they would stop hitting the PIX. I am looking for some ideas here on what to do next. Thanks in advance and this is my first post so go easy on me if I didn't do something right.
