dear guys i have a windows 95. Every time I go to turn it on is says missing operating system.I booted with floppy that had a start up disk on it. After I used a floppy called windows 95 recovery disk setup boot disk. Then I was at windows setup It asked for windows rescue me disk so I put it in then it asked me for a batch file what do I do next. Note this was all in dos mode.

hm, sounds like you need to do a repair install. Just install windows 95 over the old one. As ive never heard of having to use a batch file to run setup. If that wont work and you dont have anything important on the hard drive, format and install. Before trying though might want to wait someone else might have seen this before. So before trying my suggestions wait and see if you get any other replys.

dudeknight3,
Your problem may be from several things.

You should look in the bios and see if the drive is being detected.

The battery on the motherboard may be low or dead as well.

If the drive is detected (per Mainegeek) you can have an issue with the master boot record (fixed with fdisk /mbr) or with files missing from the drive.
95 doesn't do as clean a re-install as later versions and you may find it easier to wipe the windows directory out and reload the OS and applications. Or the real thing, format and start over. In any case, either of these may lose anything you have.
