I have installed McAfee 6.01 as it should and even upgraded it to 6.02. I still having problem to start Central. From the logfile:
4 23:01 6/23/2002 Central: 'C:\Program\McAfee\McAfee Shared Components\Central\Central.dll' ( Version = 21F0474 ) does not match 'C:\Program\McAfee\McAfee Shared Components\Central\CentENU.dll' ( Version = 21F0467 )
4 23:01 6/23/2002 Central: Resource library does not match Central version.

I also tryed to patch with the CentENU-patch with error:
"Old file not found. However, a file with the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match"

I have Swedish XP Pro and I have tryed everything to make it running without results.

Please respont to this thread if you have any ideas.

I suggest the following:

1. Uninstall first.
2. Install w/o updating. Finish the install first.
3. Update using Instant Update or manually download the patches.

The problem stems from the Central.dll file being in use when being updated. So the registry gets updated but the file version does not. The registry looks for a newer version than what is available on disk.

Hope this helps.

This is what worked for me.

1. Uninstalled the software.
2. Deleted the Mcafee folder.
3. Deleted the McAfee Update Patch and Mcafee Shared Components from the registry using RegCleaner 4.1 by Jouni Vuorio.
4. Installed Mcafee, without installing the Instant Updater update. The update is what was causing the problem.
5. Installed the VS060230.exe update.
6. Manually downloaded and installed the latest anti-virus patch.

I no longer received the central.dll incompatibility message.
