in act 6.0, i can't sort by the "email address" field. it's almost as if it doesn't exist- won't show up in export, won't swap in the replace menu. how can i sort by email address? in export, i noticed it shows up as "login email". not sure how that relates.

In ACT! 6.0, they had an ability to store multiple email addresses... to do that, the email "field" isn't actually a field, but a portal to another table.

This means that sorting by email address isn't possible to do, and adding the email address field to the Contact List view will slow ACT! down considerably.

Why are you trying to sort via email?
Maybe there's another way to achieve a similar result?

thanks for the help. i have about 35,000 contacts and was just trying to find the ones with email addresses so i could contact them. at this point i have very few email address, so i think i may just use one of the user fields as an email address field, thus having the capability to sort.

You can't email to the address in a user field.

Anyway, you don't want to sort, you want to Lookup, which is still possible.

BTW: If looking to do a merge to those addresses, you should have a look at MergeMaster! - much faster, more reiable and many extra functions. Have a look at
