The Dlink Modem is all in one Modem/Router/Access Point. I have connected My desktop PC with a wired connection and am accessing the internet wirelessly with my Laptop.

However I cannot set up both PCs for file sharing. I've tried to set up a workgroup and followed all window's instrucions for doing this and also to set up file sharing but neither computers show up in network connections.

Can anyone pleae help?

Thanks

Can your two PC's ping each other?
If the answer is yes, then you're nearly there.

If you CAN'T ping, but BOTH machines CAN surf the net, then most likely the PC's have some form of security software running. Could be Microsoft Windows Firewall if you've got XP SP2 or Win2003Sp2. Other personal firewalls include ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security...

Cheers

Both machines can surf the net but my 2 PC's cannot ping each other. I've tried temporarily disabling Norton internet security on both machines but they still can't ping each other. Windows firewall is disabled on both machines.

I can ping the wireless router. Could it have something to do with the router's security settings?

Thanks for your reply,

Jeff
