Hi,
I try to restore from a backup, got this message "Can't set permission state:" what is worng? I use administrator account for all my backups.

Thanks

What are you restoring, from where to where, are you connected to the master, is the restore going to an alternate client, are you connected to the machine you want to restore to?

It was backed up using UNC \\server\files\ from one of the windows client machine, and was stored in the backup master (Sun Solaris8) the backup is fine, I can browse the files listing, but when restore, I got this message...also can not restore to other places. All other backups from other clients work just fine.
Thanks

Where are you running the restore from? i.e. From the master, from the client, from an administration console?
Where are you restoring to? i.e. Original target location, alternate location?

restore from a win client pc login as administrator, the backup was done from a network NAS server, now I wanted to restore from \\server\home directory to my C:\Home
Thanks

General rule - Always run the restore GUI from the server thatt he files were backed up from. Then do an alternate client restore and specify the FQDN as the restore path.

When you start the restore, the option to select is "Restore individual files and folders to different locations (Double click to modify)".

When you double click, you type in \\server.domain.type\c$\ etc. FQDN = Fully Qualified Domain Name.

PGPhantom,
The tapes I use were used to backup unix files, now I reuse them for backing up windows files, does that matter?

I use the same tapes to do both UNIX and Windows - Never had a problem.

Do you know what is wrong with this?

Under what name are you restoring the file? You need to have an admin account that has access to the files to restore them - Even a restore attempt still takes into consideration security access rights.

Actualy, I decieded to reinstall the client and it works, I guess, my the configuration is wacked.
thanks for you help anyway!
