Can't set appointments on Outlook calendar.

One of my colleagues is having problems with his Outlook calendar. Every time he types an appointment into the calendar it disappears. Appointments can't be entered from the requester as it won't come up at all. I have checked the permissions, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. He says it only started happening at the end of last year, so I don't know if it's something to do with the last Microsoft update.

Just a thought - is it possible he has set a filter on his calendar to only show certain appointments and forgotten to turn it off? I often get this sort of question from my users and it turns out they have a filter set.
