Can't set Append Time Left to Infinite

I have a Media Set called "Thursday". Within this set, I have three tapes, "Thursday 1", "Thursday 2", and "Thursday 3". Tapes 1 and 2 have Append Time Left set to Infinite, but I can't set tape 3's value to Infinite. It's always None. I thought maybe there was a problem with the tape, so I re-labeled it, but I still can't set Append Time to Infinite. This caused a problem for me last night when BE apparently decided to overwrite the Friday tape in my autoloader because Thursday 3 couldn't be appended to. Any ideas? Thanks!

I had this problem and to solve it I had to go to the media set and change the append time for the whole set. I changed it to Never append and then back to Infinite.

Thanks, but I've tried that already. The Thursday 3 tape remains at None no matter how many times I do that. The other two tapes change appropriately. Do you think I have a bad tape or a BE bug? Thanks.

I'd say it's a bad tape. But check one other thing, remove the tape and make sure it's not write protected (the tab slid over so the tape becomes read only).

I figured out how to fix it:

1. I did an Export of the Thursday 3 tape (which was in one of the slots in the autoloader)
2. That was taking a while, so I cancelled the operation, which left "Unknown Media" in that slot in the Devices view
3. I moved Thursday 3 to Retired Media and deleted it
4. I did an Inventory on the slot that tape was in
5. I moved Thursday 3 back to the Thursday media set
6. Append Time Left was "Infinite"!!! Woohoo!
7. Kicked back with a cold one
