Hi,

I have an s8700, CM 5.2 with a remote (LSP) site in Bosten that cant send or receive faxes off their local PRI. I have local analog CO trunks (for backup)that I can termporarily point to the faxes and they then work. However, when I send faxes to the PRI's DID number, the fax machine answered but errors out. The fax machine was swapped out with the same results.

The LEC says it is not a compressed trunk and should send faxes fine. All voice calls are fine and no errors on the DS1. The trunk group is as follows.

Does anyone have any idea what can cause this?

Thanks,

Joe

Might be a sync issue.
If it is a media gateway. Set sync timing in media gateway.

Will

Thanks. I set it to pass through and still no luck. It was set at T38. standard.

How do I set the sync in the GW. I did telent into the GW and "set sync inter pri v2". Then I looked at the gui at network time sync, and it says "currently there are no peers present on the system". ANy ideas?

Thanks!

set sync interface primary v2

then

set sync source primary

then

copy run start

Will

Thanks for this advise. I did this and also did a "show sync timing", and it came back with "hardware failure". Yet the voice calls are fine??

I am going to swap the ds1 board and see what happens. Any other suggestions?? Anyone ever see this before?

Joe

Hers is what it looks like now. I have it to "local" but I need primary. WHen it is in primary however, I get either a HW failure or Loss of SIgnal.

Your E1 is showing loss of signal so your Active sync source is your local Media Gateway. When you get your E1 up and working, it will switch back to the primary v2 Active

Avayatier3,

All the voice calls are working and sound fine. However, the "sh sync timing" inticates failure. So do you agree I have a bad ds1 card, or ???

Thanks,

Joe

display ds1 2v2

Your ds1 appears to think it's optioned for E1

looks good, E1T1 appears to be normal on g350

You may have bad mm710B - Not sure why it shows loss of signal in the MG but you say it's working.

try reseating your mm710 and see if the loss of signal goes away.

This could also be an issue with the g350. Do you have another one to test this in?

Oh yeah...

I did reset it and it would either say HW Failure or loss of signal. I'm shping a replacement mm710 because I'm thinking this might be the issue. I dont have another system on site to test, but I did test the replacement card before shipping it to the remote office.

If it continues to fail, shall I suspect the G350 is bad???? The carrier was already on site with a T-bird, and ran clean, (which I suspected). I show no errors on a li meas ds1...

Avayatier3,

I swapped the ds1 card today and the voice channels did not come up. I went and got another card (both were mm710, not 710B), and the same. The voice channels did not come up. The second card was from a working system. I put the 710B back in and the voice channels came up, but again, without being able to sync to the primary.

I'm assuming that I have a bad chasis. Any suggestions before I order a new one?

Joe..

mm710 and mm710B are different packs
list config board 2v2 may show a conflict when programmed as mm710B but you have mm710 plugged in.

That being said, many packs may not operate correctly with these conflicts. display / change circuit-pack x (cabinet)
display / change media-gateway x (MG)

An example of this with legacy hardware would be replacing a ds1 tn767e with a tn464 or a tn464c with a tn464F.
display / change will show conflicts.

You may have to completely remove programming for trunk ports, signal-group, ds1, sync, etc. with old board,
plug in new board (different type) and reprogram all of this to match what was just unprogrammed. It may take all this to use a different board type as a substiute for the questionable board to function with this different hardware.

When ever I have had this problem with voice calls working but not fax calls it was a timing issue. Are you using one of your pris to time your system or is your system self timing.
