Can't send or receive internet email

At 10 this morning our Lotus Notes 5.0.9 stopped sending and receiving internet email. Email within the company works fine. All internet email just sits in the mail.box waiting to go out. Reboot no help. Recreated mail.box, no help. Firewall not the problem. Can send and receive SMTP by outlook and external server so its not that. Can run ping and others from Notes server to internet with no problems. Must be on server. No changes made to sever latley. Help!!!
 
I assume you've checked the status of the router task? And I assume you have bounced the Domino server, too, right?
 
We figured it out. It was not the server. Our SPAM screen can only hold so many exceptions before it blows up. (We were not told this when it was bought and it is not in the documentation anywhere) When it blew up it stopped all smtp traffic from the notes server. Very strange but has been repaired..Don't buy WatchGurad if your looking. The support is very very very bad. If you get support at all.
 
Good for you. BTW we have been using Netwaork Associates' GroupShield for (basic) spam control for about 4 years now. Very happy with it.
