XP PRO SP1. MS update check says none required.

Suddenly, two days ago, I have not been able to send any emails in Outlook Express.

Typical error msg:

"Error: The message could not be sent because one of the recipients
was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was
. Subject 'Error message for Chris',
Account: , Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '550 relaying blocked, read new mail,
add 4.88.78.56 to forwarding or enable smtp authentication
in your', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550,
Error Number: 0x800CCC79"

(I removed email addresses for privacy).

The addresses I'm using are stored and used repetitively without problem until now.

I do receive them OK. I have to use ISP's Web Email service until problem fixed.

ISP says they can't ID a problem. Dial up numbers I use work for them. They suggested virus. I updated and ran Norton Systemworks virus scan and One button checkup.

No change with RESTORE.

Is it truly MY problem or theirs?

Simle thing to try if anything in the OUTBOX or DRAFT folder delete them and try again.,,,send an e-mail to yourself to test.

The error message is coming from the ISP's SMTP server so they should be able to investigate this further.

Chris.

That's what I should think. But after countless calls and email exchanges, it apparently turned out to be me.

I had to replace the ACCOUNT data in OE. Then, all service was restored. Apparently, something there was corrupt.

Thanks for the idea.
