I'm using Lotus Notes 4.6 on a NT 4.0 server with sp6a. When I try to have the server send mail to the internet, I get the following error:

"SMTPMTA: osesctl Outbound [oseshlr0] SMTP session failed one or more messages"

I also get the message:

"SMTPMTA: imsgcnv Message 86256BF7.0064781E was not converted successfully: Address syntax error"

Lastly, I get the error:
"No Messages transfered to THEINTERNET: Unable to find path to server"

My guess is that these three errors are related. Any ideas on how to fix would be much appreciated.

check to see if you have:

a global domain document which specifies your local internet domain(s)

a foreign smtp connection document telling notes where to route internet mail to (make sure you have the dummy internet domain 'theinternet' listed in the domain field instead of the server field.

make sure that there's a SMTP Connection document (disable replication in the replication and routing section and select SMTP routing instead of regular mailrouting that connects to domain 'theinternet' (and either use the name of a relay server or somedummy name like 'allhosts' for the server field

that should do the trick (I think, it's been a while since I last worked with R4) Woonjas
