Can't send emails anymore

Hi, hope you guys can help me out with this problem. Since yesterday, we can't send any emails to external adresses anymore, only receive mails. There is no error message of any kind if you try to send an email; the mails even appear in sent items like normal, but they are not delivered? Internal emails still work. There hasn't been any change in the settings in mdaemon. I am a fairly inexperienced user so any help would be great!

When email is sent, is it sent to a gateway mail server, or directly to the SMTP of the recipient?

If you send to a gateway server, I would check that machine or address. If it is a server maintained by your ISP, I would give them a ring. If it does not send to a gateway server, I would check the firewall to make sure that outgoing SMTP rules have not changed.

Details from logs and network setup might help in this case.
