Our Border Manager server has stopped sending outbound email and we can't telnet to port 25 on the server. Incoming email is working. we are not using Mail proxy. Any ideas on how to get port 25 working? Please help!

I use to have this problem all the time when I had border manager running on my GroupWise Server. Rebooting the server usually took care of this. When I took over for this company, they had most all of their Internet applications running on this server. I slowly removed everything off this server and moved our protection to firewall that sits in front of our e-mail server. Once I did this all my port 25 problems went away.

I searched on Novell's Web site forever trying to find a solution but couldn't so I went with my own solution. If rebooting corrects your situation, chances are you are experiencing the same problems that I was.

Things I checked that may help you....

1. Current service pack on NetWare (sp9)
2. Any patches for the Border Manager installed.
3. Current service pack for GroupWise.
4. Current NIC Driver.

Of course I did all of this and my problem still existed. You may still want to do all of this before you throw in the towel like I did and redesign your entire network....

Sorry I couldn't be of any further help....

*end users are just like computers, some you can work with...others just need a simple reBOOTing to fix their problems.*
