Hello,

I've been given a psd file with a spelling mistake to correct only I can't seem to select the text. I've done this many times in the past but am still pretty new to Photoshop - perhaps there is an easier way to select it...?

What I've done so far is make sure that the layer with the text is selected then, using the type tool, I try clicking on the text in the image itself. This has always worked for me in the past but not on this file (on any of the layers).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

oh yeah - using 5.0.2 but can get access to a machine that has the CS version installed if I need to.

In your layer window try double clicking on the text in the layer you want to correct and the text window should open up.

I suspect that the type has been rasterized. In the layers pallete, is there a Capital 'T' next to the name of each type layer. If you're not sure what I mean by this click with the type tool anywhere on your image and type a word. When you select another tool you will see the letter T appear in the layers pallette next to your new type layer.

Type layers like this are vector objects, which can be edited (correcting spelling mistakes for instance). If the type in question has been rasterized then it is now a picture layer with fixed dimensions in pixels. It is no longer an editable type layer.

Thanks for the reply Tony!

This is what I've been trying to do. It never seems to select the existing text though, rather, it opens up as you said but in a new layer...??? (after a single click)

I am able to do everything else it seems (i.e. move, erase). Anything else I could try?

Thanks again!

You're right Dweezel! The new layer gets the capital T you spoke of - the other layers do not have this (d-oh!)

Guess I'll just have to try to recreate it!

Thanks again to you both!
