can't seem to deploy myodbc

I'm trying to setup deployment of myodbc on our windows 2000 domain. We only upgraded the domain from NT in the summer, this is the first time we've tried to deploy software. I cant seem to get it to work

what i've done
created an ou called "install software"
moved our testpc from the computers ou to this new ou
created an gpo attached the the OU called "install myodbc"
in computer configuration/software installation added the msi package which resides at \\server\setup$\ as assigned.


when i log onto the computer nothing seems to happen.

i believe you assign to users not to pcs
(you can publish to pcs ie it will appear in add/remove etc etc)

1. place your test account into this OU instead (not pc object)
2. configure a GP "user configuration/software installation" etc as before (not "computer configuration/software installation")

replicate to all dcs, reboot machine and login etc etc
