Hi,

I have a bunch of mp3's in a folder, howver today I went to browse and I can only see (exactly) half of them - they were sorted alphabetically so I can only see A - L..

I know that the files are there somewhere because when I goto copy a file zzz.mp3 it asks if I want to overwrite the existing one.

However, no matter what I do, I cannot browse, see or add these files to any programs.

Anyone experienced this before? I have Norton Antivirus with the latest updates to no avail... Is there any program to get these back?

Oh, and im using Windows 2000 with the latest SP on an Athlon 3000XP if this helps.

what happends if you copy/move the whole folder to another location?
what if you open a dos box, go to the folder and type attrib m*.* or copy/move m*.*?

Hey, thanks - I tried copy/moving the whole folder and it didnt do anything.

Then I ran (built in Windows) Error Checking on the drive and it fixed something so the files all reappeared.

Still unsure as to the cause so hopefully it won't happen again.

Thanks for trying to help though.

this can happen if windows is shut down improperly - the hardrive has bad sectors, or the disk is fragmented ... or just needs to be cleaned up .. period ...

sometimes, it can happen for NO reason ... :)
