Can't see graphics in Word 1

When I insert a graphic from file (any type), I can see the placeholder, but not the graphic. I can see it in print preview mode and it prints ok, but whatever view I select in Word, I can't see it on screen.

It's only happened recently, and I was messing around with some settings last week, so I suspect I've changed something I shouldn't have.

You can check in 'Tools' then 'Options' under the 'View' tab to make sure that there is a check mark next to drawings under the "Print and Web Layout options' section.

are you looking at it in 'Normal' rather than 'Print Layout' view? That tends to show picture placeholders rather than the actual picture but will display the images on Print Preview and (naturally) print them

Have you checked to see if you need to turn off "show picture placeholders"?

Tools > Options > View
Show (first section of options)
Picture placeholders should be unchecked

Thanks, that did the trick. Last week a colleague was baffled by the print crop marks that had appeared in his docs (It was Asian Language support that had done it). I was trying different options to see if I could replicate before discovering the solution to this.
