Using Explore can't see anything under Temp Internet Files for users with admin profile. How can I correct this? I've checked folder options to insure I can view all system and hidden files. Thanks.

If NTFS try turning off Simple File Sharing then adjust permissions to allow access.

By default Simple File Sharing is enabled (unless connected to a Domain).

In Simple File Sharing if Users Documents and Settings Folder is made Private it specifies that only the user can access the folder. When you make a folder private, you also make all the files and subfolders it contains private. This option is only available for your folders in your user profile (My Documents and its subfolders, Desktop, Start Menu, and Favorites). If you want to make a file in a private folder available to other users, you can move the file to the Shared Documents, Shared Pictures, or Shared Music folders.

Linney, thanks for the quick reply. Actually, I am using a single user desktop with FAT32 not NTFS. I can't see see any files or folders under my own USERID.

Can you see anything if you view them through Internet Explorer/ Tools/ Internet Options/ Temporary Internet Files/ Settings/ View Files ?

You may have a corrupted Desktop.ini file that could cause this type of behavior. This explains what I mean.

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Explorer.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows itself by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
