Hi All,

1st post so here goes..

I have a small domain (Server 2003) with a few XP clients.
It is stuck in Windows 2000 native domain functionality and I cannot raise to the Windows 2003 functionality that it suggests. However, that is not my problem (just thought you would need to know where I was :))

My problem is that on the XP machines I cannot add a domain account to the local administators group of the XP machines.

I go to Manage then into Local Users/Groups and open the Administrators group - then add a user but at this stage I can only choose accounts on the local computer. I am unable to browse the Entire Directory Structure and choose a Domain Account instead.

I hope this is enough information. I have tried googling my situation but the results are so varies it is impossible to find the answer..

Thanks for any advise anyone can offer.
Nathan

Unbelievable - I appear to have solved it!!
Tell me if i'm wrong or there is something else involved.

Its because the client machines point to the router for DNS which inturn uses my ISP's DNS.

The reason for this is because the domain controller running DNS role isnt always switched on. So I point them
to the router which is the default gateway too.

So instead, tonight, I just switched the DNS to point to the DC and bingo!

Hope this helps someone else! lol :) Happy days
