Hi!
I have a 2nd-hand P630 with a single 7311-D20 attached, with 12 x 146GB drives and two 2498 RAID cards in slots 4 & 7 at the rear of the 7311 - running 5.1 ML 3.
Initially I could see the physical devices through the Disk Array Manager (PDAM) and with scraidmgr. I built an array, attached the LUN to a new volume group, and built an LV and file system. At this point though the volume group errored, reporting a version mismatch, and was placed in an error state.
I suspected that the 2nd-hand disks had been used before and I was getting a conflict with an old VGDA definition. So I thought to format the disks, using
diag -c -d scraid0 -T "format -A"
However this produced numerous errors on every disk i.e.
"An adapter configuration error was detected when running the Service Aid on physical disk 4e(Channel 4, ID e)"
Subsequently I cannot see any disk attached to either adapter. Using the RAID Manager to resolve the configuration still produces no result. errpt -a displays numerous "SCSI_ARRAY_ERR9" on both adapters and Error Log Analysis of the logs for both adapters have every former disk listed as;
(example)
Physical Manager reports a Hard Data Error on
physical disk 2d(Channel 2, ID d).
Replace the disk.
Details: 10f33100 10ca001d 80001619
Sense Key: 3 ASC/ASCQ: 3100
(end example)
Running the diag service aid
"SCSI RAID Physical Disk Status and Vital Product Data"
displays;
"No physical disks were detected by this Service Aid."
So my 12 disks have mysteriously disappeared from view on both RAID adapters. A restart/power-off restart hasn't done the trick - the firmware on the adapters is at 4.84.1 - the most recent-as is the 7311-D20 chassis firmware, and that on the P630 itself.
diag can't detect an error on the 7311 ses0 and the devices.pci.14102e00.rte/diag package is COMMITTED and verified.
I can imagine a cable problem inside the 7311-D20 from the disk packs to the RAID adapters, but all 12 disks?
The server is remotely managed. Before I call out an engineer to it, does anyone else have some ideas, hints or suggestions for something I should pursue?
Ta!
