cant see changer in device manager

I just installed a new compaq ssl2020 tape unit onto a compaq dl360 win2k server using the onboard scsi controller.
When I go into device manager I see the tape drive but not the medium changer. I scanned for new hardware with no luck.
All devices are on their own scsi id and terminated correctly. Any ideas as to why its not seen by windows?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
