cant save network password in password list

please help. when i was using windows nt i was able to save user name, password, and domain belonging to another user with internet access right in the company. i didnt need to call him for logon to the internet unless i remove the check for "save in the password list". to my amazement each time i do this in windows 2000 pro, the password is not saved even with the check intact. any help would be appreciated.
