Hi,

I'm having an issue running my schedule tasks using the local system account(NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM) in the "Run As" option. When attempting to run the task

I get
Status: Could not start
Last Result: 0x0

The Log shows this:
--------------------
The attempt to log on to the account associated with the task failed, therefore, the task did not run.
The specific error is:
0x8007052e: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and try again.

I wouldn't know what the Local System account's password is and I believe the username is right

Any ideas is appreciated.
Thanks

What is the task trying to do? Ive seen this if you are trying to... move data from one server to another. NT Authority\System cant make remote connections.

Roadki11 is correct, if the sched task is running locally on the server under the context of a system account it should be fine, but if it is trying to access a remote server/share for example then maybe u should change the task to run as a domain user account that has access

I have it running a batch file.
The batch file just deletes *.PCP files from a directory that is on that same server.

I am assuming you created the task using the SCHTASK command? Have you tried modifying it to run using local credentials and then try again using the local system acct?

The task was created thru the Schedule Task GUI in control panel. Is there an operational difference creating the task with SCHTASK?

It was originally using a Domain account to run and was fine.

We want to scale back on relying on domain accounts to run these tasks. So the thought is to change it to the local system account.

Hello dreamcurse
Have you checked your domain policy to ensure that local users group and system have been there within user right policy of running sheduled tasks.By default system has right to run sheduled taskks but its possibility that it might be blocked.

Also it may be bit silly to ask have you added that system account you are trying to run the scheduled service into local admin group.

As far as I know you can't use the GUI to set the system account as the logon mechanism for your job. Your job would either have to be created using the AT or SCHTASK command. Try re-creating using SCHTASK instead.
