can't run mysql_install_db

Hi,
Whenever I try and run this I get an error saying it can't find the hostname using ipresolve. However , if I do a hostname it returns the correct hostname ? Am I missing something here ?

By the way this is on a Mandrake Linux system installing MySQL 4.015

I'm not giving the script any hostname. I'm simply running mysql_install_db. Is this incorrect ?

It should probably be using localhost as the default hostname. Can localhost be resolved to an IP?
