Hi. I'm trying to restore a database to a different server and I get an error 'Can't write to database'. I'm trying both using the same name and a different name for the database. I have also changed the file destination to reflect the difference in the servers. Normal restores (ie. restore the database to it's original location) work fine. Is there something I'm missing? Is SQL the same version on both servers? After you have selected the DB that you want to restore, make sure you right click and set up the BACKUP AGENT OPTIONS to change the restore path if required. In the detination tab, after you select SQL on the server you are restoring to, add the new name to the path.

Thanks for your response ekmino but I got it figured out after paying $95 to be told something that's not in the documentation. Durkin
