When trying to restore a DB in SQL 2000, it takes a while for the restore menu to come up. When it finally does, I choose the "from device" radio button. I then click on "select devices" to choose my file and I don't get a response.

We have plenty of free space available. Has anyone ran into a similar issue?

Thanks
Clint

Do you have any backup devices defined on the server?

The restore database GUI queries data from the MSDB database. If there is a lot of backup data (do to lots of backups) then this GUI will take quite a while to respond.

It's usually easier to use a T/SQL command to restore the database. Look up the RESTORE DATABASE command in BOL for the full syntax.

Thanks

I was able to restore the DB through the analyzer.
