Tried to restore a file created with QuarkXpress on a Mac computer. The file is moved to a common disk on a Windows2000 server before backup.
After restoring to the network disk and moving the file back to the Mac, it shows only garble.
Am I missing anyhting?
Is there anything out there called "compression"?
Is compression what is causing this problem?
If so, how can I de-compress this file to its normal formatting?
Any adviced will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Well nsconsultant, The most likely reason that you faced this problem is that your file must have got corrupted while moving it back to your mac.

Before moving or copying a file first check the size of that particular file. After you have moved or copied the file check the size of the file that you have moved or copied on your computer. If the size of the file is same then the move/copy procedure was successful but if even one bit is less than the size of the original file then you would face a problem such as this one in which you see garbled information.

Now that you have a back-up copy of the file, the best thing to do would be to restore the file from the back-up storage device.

Hope this helps....
