I have used the F985 process but am unable to default the system managers password back to default. I have rebooted the cics and the CP100 but no change. CP100 at rev 3.1. I have not yet watched the serial startup process to see if that tells me anything. Any thoughts?

Are you sure you know the default password?
We cannot post programming passwords in forums.

F985 is the only way and never heard of it not work, maybe you are not using the correct procedure within 985/9

I think the problem is that the vm has been defaulted and I need to use the password for configuring the system rather than the sys mgr
password. I will have it back on my bench next week and will test the theory then.

To be sure..
There is only one password to program with and that is the password of sys mgr mailbox.

In 983 you would enter the sys mgr mailbox number followed by it's password yyyy.
Example with a 3 digit DN system you log in with XXXyyyy.
The default password is the same as all the other mailboxes after they have been rest or still not initialized.

To reset sys mgr password back to default use F985, 9 and it's password then you are prompted to reset the sys mgr mailboix pswd.

I have come up with the answer to this question. If the call pilot 100 is set up for 3 digit mailboxes and your CICS is set up for 2 digits the system managers password will not work and can not be reset. Yes I tried 12 and 102.

I had 2 "new to me" call pilots shipped in and when I hooked them up to my 2 digit CICS they appeared to work but will not properly negotiate the DN length. I changed the CICS from 2 digit to 3 digit and rebooted both devices. Now they are happy to see each other and the SM password works as expected.
