can't remove virus's from 98 box

Hi all,

I installed a Micro Trend virus scan and remover that detected the viruses but didn't clean them, no matter how the settings were changed. I did a virus scan online that didn't detect or clean the virus.I downloaded klez fix and other fixes that didn't detect the virus and didn't remove them. At this point I don't know where to go.

It's an old win 98 box and could of had the viruses for well oer a year.

Does it tell you what virus the PC is infected with? If it does then you might be able to remove the virus manually by getting on the Mcafee or Symantec websites (there are many more websites than that of course)and finding out more about the virus. Generally these websites have instructions on how to manually remove viruses as well.

Also make sure your PC is patched with the latest security patches from MS.
