Can't Remove Virus! Launches on "mailto: "

Help!

I've contracted a virus. Whenever I click a "mailto" link, I get 40+ browser windows (blank) exploding on my screen.

ALSO, it seems to not let me change my default mail handler.

Anyone heard of this?

What does the mail file type configured to execute? This can be found in the Windows Explorer View/Options/File Types. AVChap

What virus, or are you guessing you have one? Run an online scan here and tell us what it finds:

I ran a scan and it did find something in the registry, and deleted it. Didn't do the trick.

The .eml file type points to Microsoft Outlook Express.

I suppose I was guessing that I had a virus, maybe I didn't. I decided to reinstall OE and it DID THE TRICK.

?? I don't know what happened but I'm glad its gone.
