We have Windows Server 2003 - We attempt to use remote desktop to log in from offsite via the fixed ip address, the background image starts loading from left to right, top to bottom, and approximatley 3/4 way down the screen locks up then an error pops up and says "The connection to the remote computer was broken. This may have been caused by a network error. Please try connecting to the remote computer again."

This is prior to having a login box for username and password. Then you can only click ok to be bumped back out and have to start over.

Pathping, tracert, and ping tests all show ok with no packet loss. The speedtest on the server revealed 3mb down and 1mb up. The system we are logging in with remotes to other servers just fine so its an isolated issue with the actual server or router on that side.

Ports 3389, 7069, and 3003 are all open and forwarded correctly. It seems if we restart the server it works fine but then stops working shortly thereafter until the server is restarted again?? any ideas??

You might look at the MTU size of the routers (start with the router on the server's side).
Some DSL connections won't function properly if it's set to 1500, so try 1492.
If you need help adjusting this setting, please post back with specifics on the router model.

Good luck.
