I'll kick off!

Some months ago we bought a Watchguard SOHO (WG2500) unit but never implemented it -- it couldn't 'remember' its IP and had to be re-set each time. We had the unit installed between a Netgear RT314 and the ADSL modem. The 'forgeting' was a real nuisance, so the Watchguard is currently sitting in the junk box while we use the Netgear RT314 to control access.

Anyone else come across this?

I've never seen that problem.. yet. Maybe your unit has a bad ROM. I'd also try upgrading the Firmware (I believe 5.0 is the latest) if you haven't done that. Did you have the unit set for a static IP address or DHCP? Or does your ADSL use PPPoE as does mine? The watchguard should work well in any of these configurations though. HTH..

Not sure why you would put the SOHO behind the NetGear. The SOHO can have the DSL modem plug directly into it. If you are using PPPoE - it will receive it's IP just fine. If you are using a static IP that will work as well. Can you give more specifics on how you had it configured when it wasn't working?

WatchGuard is up to version 5.0.39 on the SOHO. It works just fine. You might also try posting your message on WatchGuard's message board or opening up an incident report with WatchGuard. They are good to work with.
