This is redundant to a post in my "bindery" thread. I am creating a separate thread so it will attract attention. Our main server just crashed and I need to get this one finished as soon as humanly possible.

I just installed NW4.11 and patched it w/ SP9. The server has an Intel S875WP1-E Mobo w/ two 256 MB sticks of Crucial PC3200-30331-A1 ECC memory. I've tried the auto register above 16 MB statement and register memory 1000000 20000000. Neither work...the server always reports 64 MB of memory installed. I took one stick of memory out and it still registers 64 MB.

Does anyone have an idea what is wrong. I've used the predecessor to this motherboard w/ the same amount of memory on two NW3.12 servers and had no problem registering the memory.

Thanks in advance.

If your config.sys on the dos partition has HIMEM or EMM386 commands rem them out.

Verify the Set Auto Register Above 16 Meg = ON is set.

That's what it was...Himem.sys. I found someone on Google Groups that had the problem. Evidently Himem.sys can only read 64 MB of memory. I'm registering all the memory now. Thanks for the reply.

The problem is not that HIMEM can only read 64MB. The problem is that Himem.sys is a DOS mode driver, and conflicts with NetWare's own memory management. NetWare does NOT use DOS to manage memory. NetWare is a protected mode 32bit operating system (where DOS is 16bit).
