hello
i va install a debian sarge 3.1r0a and sendmail, qpopper.
i ve configured mail (@exmple.fr).
2 users : root and me (user)
i can send / receive mails in local.
i can send mails to internet , it ' ok!

my problem : i can't receive mails (from internet).
in my file "relay-domains", i ve put : exemple.fr

when i send a mail from internet to me, i received it in /var/spool/mqueue/
i ve read one of them :
"MDeferred: Connection refused by exemple.re"

Can you help me please.

Sendmail is set to only look at the loopback device by default. Loof for a line in sendmail that starts with DAEMON_OPTION. There may be a few. The one you want is the one pointing to the loopback device (127.0.0.1). Comment out this line by putting "dnl " in front of it. Then run m4 and reastart sendmail.

in my /etc/mail/sendmail.mc
i had put :

dnl DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Family=inet6, Name=MTA-v6, Port=smtp, Addr=::1')dnl
DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Family=inet, Name=MTA-v4, Port=smtp, Addr=0.0.0.0')dnl
dnl DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Family=inet6, Name=MSP-v6, Port=submission, Addr=::1')dnl
DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Family=inet, Name=MSP-v4, Port=submission, Addr=0.0.0.0')dnl

Can you help me...please

This is the exact line you are looking for:

DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')dnl

If it isn't there then it may have been deleted already or your distro doesn't add that line. After reading your original post again, I don't think that is the problem anyway. I missed the last statement in that post and it seems that sendmail is listening on the public ip. Check to see that all domains that your server handles mail for are in /etc/mail/local-host-names.
