Can't read Sony Mavica 156mb cd rw cds

When I take pictures with the Sony CD Mavica, I have found only 1 computer that will read these cd's, an old win98 466 mhz.
On other pc's, 98 or nt 4.0, about the same age, Explorer reports Drive Not Ready.
DOS mode shows no files in directory.
Finalizing the cd only makes the machine think it is reading an audio cd.
Is there some software that is necessary for the correct reading of small format cd?
THe CD type is Sony 156 MB CD for Mavica.

If the computers dont have required software they cant read your disk. Most cameras come with required software.
Or try loading a photo editing program and accessing from that.

Well, yes, any photo editing app could read the jpgs,
-IF-
they could access the disk.
(I was going to put that last part in uppercase..)
Trouble is, the system does not recognize, cannot read, and therefore does not know of the existence of this tiny little cd.

Oh sorry! Thought you meant small format as in drops into the inner ring of computer cd drive.• Supplied Software: Pixela™ Image Mixer Software for Sony v1.5, USB Driver SPVD-010.

You are right, it is the small format that fits in to the inner ring of the cd drive.
I am guessing that this is a hardware-related problem...

How old, and what speed, is the CD drive? "Small format" makes no difference. Some of the older CD drives won't read "picture" CD's. Look at the box of a new drive, it will say something about "picture compatible".

Supplied Software: Pixela™ Image Mixer Software for Sony v1.5, USB Driver SPVD-010. Did you install this software?
Can you connect via a USB lead I know it will probably drain battery.
