can't put call on hold 1

Hi - From time to time our receptionist cannot put a caller on hold. She says it seems to happen when she picks up an outside line to dial out and accidently answers an incoming call. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

The dial out timers haven't expired yet.

Dial "#" to make them think that you're done dialing.

Now you can put the call on hold.

Hint: on regular outgoing calls, dial 9, the telephone number, and then #, and the call will complete faster, as the switch knows you're done.

You have no idea how many arguments I had with the folks in Bell Labs about that. They really got turned off when I told them THAT WAS A DUMB IDEA!
