We installed MS-SQL 2000 and Macola 7.6 client on our Win2k Pro workstation and connected OK to the server. Now we can't print from Macola 6.2 to our local printer. We need 6.2 until the training and conversion is completed at the end of this month. How can we set up the workstation to print from Macola 6.2? The printer works fine from other Windows applications. Thanks for your help - Aidan

Aidan,
Are you getting any kind of error message or is it one of those where it looks like its printing and nothing happens?

Rob

Rob - A "Printing to printer 1" message flashes quickly in the lower-left of the Macola screen (printing AP transactions) but nothing prints and the Windows printer display doesn't show any jobs waiting to print. We tried to print to a networked printer on a different computer and it printed fine. Thanks - Aidan

It's been a long time since I've worked on 6.2, but don't you have to have some kind of capture setting on your LPT1 port ?

I know this is going to sound weird but you might try shortening the printer name. I have had this happen before with the Elliott application and it is Macola v.6. You will have to delete the printer then reinstall the printer (in the control panel). As you are installing, you will have the opportunity to rename the printer. Make sure the length is no more that 8 characters.

I'll try the shorter name. We changed the port settings on the LPT1 port in device manager from "Never use an Interrupt" to "Try not to use an interrupt" and Macola printed. We rebooted and it stopped again. We changed the settings to "Use any interrupt assigned to the port" and it printed again. We rebooted and couldn't print so we opened the Port Settings dialogue without changing anything, closed it and printed again. This looks like a weird Windows thing where the port settings are being lost during re-boot even though the settings appear to be the same in the Port Settings box. Thanks - I'm definitely going to try the shorter name because stranger things have happened - Aidan
