cant print using print server

Hi,
I have a networked printe server (windows NT) with an HP 4000 laser printer. I got a message sayong this:
"error writing to LPTST96B0P1 for document test. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error"

I restarted the spool service and the computer altogether, and it still does not work.

suggestions please.

are you EVER able to print off this printer ?

can you try to setup the printer on some other computer, that way we can isolate better if that is a computer problem or printer problem

uts fine now. It was the jetdirect that plugs in the back of the printer. I had to unplug it and then re-plug it.

yes it always pays to check the cable connection and hardware first before we break head on what's wrong with software/server
