Hello forum,I have a problem that i havent seen before and im hoping you might lend some insight.
I have a user here that cannot print pdf files from within IE 8.Both programs work fine on their own and will both print fine as long as its not a pdf in the browser.
The user has Acrobat Professional and when she clicks on a link, the pdf will display fine in the browser, but when she tries to print, Either from the Acrobat Print icon or even the IE File/print menu, the print properties page will display,,but it is all distorted.Text and dialog boxes out of whack, running into each other. And when you try to click o.k. it just freezes up until you kill IE with task manager.
Saving the document to the desktop and printing it from there works fine.I have reset IE, registered the Dll files, repaired Acrobat Pro.(Forgot to mention,Running Vista SP1).
Others here with the same configuration have no problem printing.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I'm not sure about Acrobat professional, but if you were using Adobe reader, I would open it as an application from the Start menu, then go to Edit-->Preferecens then under in Internet option uncheck the box that says 'Display PDF in browser'.

I'm not sure how to do this in Acrobat, but assume you can. I admit, this is not a fix but a work around, but could get you over the annoying problem.

Thanks, Marc..Yeah i have already set Acrobat to display in the browser. And as i mentioned,,the PDF will DISPLAY just fine within the browser. The problem is when you select "Print" from IE or click the print icon from the acrobat tool bar that appears in the browser window. The properties page that allows you to select the printer you wish to print to and adjust any other settings for that print job is completely disjointed. Its distorted, out of alignment.Like the properties box is just sort of smashed together so that all the features are unreadable. And when you manage to click "O.K",,it just freezes up.Each program will print fine on its own,,but with a PDF displayed in an IE window..no go.
I appreciate the reply to my problem..If you come up with any other suggestions,,please feel free to post them.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond..

I am temporarily using the option of disabling the "Display in Browser" feature..I've tried enabling and disabling,,and though disabling is not the solution i was hoping for, it is a work around for now,and not too terribly disruptive. The client seems o.k. with using it like that.I would like to find the reason for this particular problem and the fix,,but the client doesnt have alot of time for me to troubleshoot.
I figured it would be easier to simply let her use it as it is for now.
Thank you again, Marc.I think your suggestion to let adobe work apart from IE will work for now. Thanks again.

Adobe is not the only PDF reader any more. One that springs to mind is the freeware Foxit reader. Works fine in IE8 with Windows 7. There are others too.

There are a number of patches for Acrobat 8 on Adobe's web site ? Are you up to date there ?
