can't print from IE 5.5 or Outlook 2000

Just built a Win2k Pro laptop. When trying to print from IE 5.5 or Outlook 2000 the system goes thru the motions of printing but nothing gets printed, nothing gets qued up to print. I can print from any other program, no problem. Have reinstalled the printer and also created a "general/text only" printer and that does not print. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
