cant print .eps or .ai files in layout at correct quality

I have imported .ai and .eps files into quark layout, images show, and print out as low quality graphics, can I set something to print the original files as part of the layout? Ta

ps. I'm using an Epson Sylus printer, not taking the file to a postscript printer

Assuming you are not going OPI and the images are not enlarged too much.
Have you made sure that omit tiff and eps is unchecked in the options menu of the print window?

You answered your own question with your second post.
EPS and AI are both postscript images. and thus need a Postscript driver to print them correctly. What you are getting is the thumbnail or saved preview.
If you have a Postscript printer available, print to it to see the difference.
