Can't place a flash file in an InDesign document

I am trying to place a Flash file - .swf - into an InDesign document for output in a PDF. Now I have placed windows media file, quicktime, but when I try to place the flash in there I get the error message:

Cannot place this file. No filter found for this operation.

I searched the Adobe knowledgebase and found this article:

But it only has to do with Quicktime 7 files, no mention of flash files.

Anybody know what to do about this?
