I will start by say sorry ahead of time as I am very Cisco dumb but I will do my best to explain my situation.

I have a Cisco 1811 Router running in my office. There is one external IP address that was provided by our ISP that is setup to accept incoming VPN connections. With no prior issues this stopped working on Monday. Nobody from outside the office can connect any longer and the IP is not pingable. Tracert works but not ping.

Nothing was changed and the Router was not touched just prior to this happening.

So far I have done the basics - power cycled the Router and our ISP modem. I then attached a laptop to the ISP connection and gave it the IP that we could no longer ping. Suddenly everything worked as in the IP was pingable from outside the office. So this tells me that is it something in the Router.

Our ISP is able to see that there is a Cisco device attached to that IP and they see the MAC address changing when I switched from the laptop to the Router.

I just have no idea why this is happening. I know I am new here but any and all help and advice would me greatly appreciated.

Please again forgive my lack of knowledge

Cheers,
Alex

While the VPN is not working can you surf out from your netwok?

What error code do you get when you cannot login?

Post a config of the router...
