I was given an IP from our internet provider:

65.118.35.29
Subnet: 255.255.255.254
Serial router = 65.118.39.94 (can ping)
Lan router = 100.100.99.10

I configured the lan card in the Win2000 server with:

IP: 65.118.35.29
Subnet: 255.255.255.254
Gateways: 100.100.99.10, 65.118.39.94

PROBLEM:
I can't ping 65.118.35.29 via the internet and I can't start a terminal services session. My ISP claims everything is OK on their end but I'm stuck. I guess once I can ping the IP from the internet, I'll be on my way with Terminal Services.

Can you push me in the right direction?

ok, something is seriously wrong here, or you havent told us everything.

Your gateway and win2k server SHOULD be in the same subnet.

-----------------------------------------

So in other words, if you ISP has done everything right, do this:

Serial router = 65.118.39.94
Lan router = 65.118.35.30 255.255.255.252

win2k ip = 65.118.35.29 255.255.255.252
win2k gateway = 65.118.35.30

-----------------------------------------

Dont ask questions, just do it, it will work.

That should make everything work correctly. If it doesnt (be it impossible) just let me know.

65.118.39.29 and .30 can't be on the same segment with an SNM of 255.255.255.252, can it??

This makes little to no sense.

JPM121, absolutely they can. It makes perfect sense.

65.118.39.28/30 (255.255.255.252)

65.118.39.28 network address
65.118.39.29 valid host
65.118.39.30 valid host
65.118.39.31 broadcast address

Either you dont know how to subnet, or you simply miscalculated. But what I said was correct!

jpm121 .... why do you think that they can't be on the same subnet? I'm just interested.

I'm with Shnypr on this one.
