can't ping by name my other domains

I have two cd's, saperate locations, one cd i can ping by either by name or ip address, but other one I can only ping by ip address, when I try to change the my local connections alternate dns address and replaced that address to the dc I could not ping by name, I still Cannt. I have not idea why this is happening.

Can someone know why?

you can ping by one of 3 methods... IP, FQDN (DNS), or Netbios (WINS).

examples:
ping 123.456.123.456
ping computer.domain.com
ping computer

If you are passing the name of your domain through DHCP, you can ping computer and DNS will append the .domain.com to the end of it. Try pinging by the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) and see if you can resolve the name to IP.
