While on a web page if I click a button to send an e-mail I'm greeted with the message: "Microsoft Wordmail could not be started. Close any open dialog boxes in Word and try again." This also happens when I try to send an e-mail from within my accounting program to a customer. When I try again I get the same message over and over. I'm using XP Pro and Office XP.

Try renaming or deleting the normal.dot file. If that fails, reinstall Word.

I assume you are using MS Word as your email editor?
Try associating Outlook or Word, whatever is available to your email and HTML editor in IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Programs tab.

Do you have Norton Antivirus installed on your computer?

If you do, try the following on the run line (start->run):

regsvr32 -u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"

If it fails, try searching for the officeav.dll and put it's path in the above line.

Note: This DLL scans office documents as you open them for viruses. This command will disable this feature.

To enable the officeav.dll again, just remove the -u from the command above.
