We recently upgraded everyone to Reader version 8 following the security holes in the previous versions.

However, one of our users downloaded a set of pdfs (about 20 of them) from a source we have downloded from before, and when he opens any of the pdf files (either by double-click or File-> Open in Acrobat Reader 8), Acrobat opens with no document loaded.

We right-clicked on the file and went to properties, and saw that there was an option to "Unblock" the file that we have never seen before, but even if we click this button and click "Apply" we still have the same problem.

Any ideas that does not involve a roll-back to version 7?

Bah!! It was that stupid FileOpen plugin... but unfortunately Acrobat Reader 8 is reluctant to divulge this information!!! It simply does not do anything.

So if anyone else has the problem go here:

You'll need local admin access as an Active X install is required.
